Special Events Coordinator
The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for the development and management of on-going and new fundraising events assuring revenue goals are reached or exceeded. Events include, the Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon, Junior Achievement Golf Classic, and the annual Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame Dinner & Auction. The incumbent organizes fundraising events, develops timetables, sells sponsorships and assures the efficient and timely operation of the event.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Event Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all special events to ensure schedules are maintained, budgets are met, and revenue goals are achieved. This role oversees the development and management of event committees, setting priorities and ensuring tasks are completed on time. The Event Coordinator also manages volunteer recruitment, coordination, and recognition for each event while cultivating and maintaining relationships with corporate sponsors through year-round stewardship, sponsorship solicitations, and in-kind donation requests. All sponsorships, donations, and related transactions are accurately recorded in the organization's database, with timely acknowledgment and thank-you processing. Additional responsibilities include maintaining and updating event planning checklists, providing regular progress reports, negotiating with venues and vendors, and coordinating the design, production, printing, and distribution of marketing materials for Junior Achievement Lincoln's special events.
Qualifications (required)
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in special events management, fundraising, sales, or a related field, with a demonstrated record of strong performance. They should possess excellent written, verbal, organizational, and planning skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, as well as exceptional interpersonal, public speaking, and communication skills. The successful candidate will be comfortable writing proposals, sponsorship requests, donor correspondence, and other fundraising materials while effectively managing multiple projects and competing priorities. They must be able to work in a variety of environments throughout the year, lift up to 25 pounds, sit or stand for extended periods, and use a computer for prolonged periods. A high level of professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information with urgency and integrity is essential.
