Back-to-school may look different this year, but JA of Lincoln is committed to fulfilling our mission and continuing to serve our students. We know students still need the support of their community, perhaps now more than ever. If they can adapt to changing circumstances, so can we!
Outside volunteers currently are not being allowed into schools, but we’ve got a plan to keep bringing students our financial literacy, career readiness and entrepreneurship curriculum, while also giving them the opportunity to interact with a community volunteer.
Our plan combines virtual interaction with a JA volunteer with in-person support from classroom teachers. JA classroom volunteers will join the class via Zoom for three 15-minute lessons, and the teacher will lead the remainder of the JA lessons. Materials will be delivered to the school, and volunteers will be provided with easy-to-follow step-by-step lesson plans.
We need you to make this work! With your help, we can be confident that all students will receive relevant, experiential education for the real world. This year, volunteering in a JA classroom can be done from anywhere that’s convenient for you, and we’ve already got teachers requesting the JA experience for the beginning of the school year! Check out classes that are in need of volunteers HERE.
We know this year will be challenging, but we also know our JA supporters will rise to the occasion. Join us as we support students and educators through this time! With your help, we’ll keep building a better future, one classroom at a time!
