Top 5 Reasons to Volunteer for JA

Image caption: Volunteers needed

Are you ready to get into the classroom?

At JA of Lincoln, it’s always our goal to make sure every local educator that requests the JA experience in their classroom gets that request fulfilled-- and that takes a lot of community volunteers! We’re so grateful to all the educators who invite us into their classrooms, and we never want to have to turn anyone away. With JA classes being taught in every Lincoln Public School and almost every parochial school, keeping up with the demand is a big job. All of our amazing community volunteers have a common vision: sharing a message of hope and opportunity with each and every young person they reach.

Here’s the wonderful part-- time after time, we hear from our volunteers that they find themselves learning from the kids even more than they teach. You work with the teacher to arrange the schedule that works for you both (usually, either one hour a week for five weeks or one hour a day for five consecutive days). Then we give you everything you need-- curriculum and materials for one of JA's proven financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs.

Here are the top five reasons you should volunteer for Junior Achievement:

  1. Show students what's possible if they work hard, encouraging them to stay in school and achieve their dreams.
  2. Experience those “ah-ha” moments when one of your JA students grasps a new concept.
  3. Connect with the Lincoln community, and learn about the challenges and successes local schools face
  4. Represent your company and industry to students.
  5. Be on the front line of changing current statistics regarding America’s competitiveness and financial illiteracy.
