When and where did you experience Junior Achievement programs?
I was in JA in Omaha when I was in high school. Our sponsor was the World Herald and I was the treasurer. We sold ads for a small flyer. When I was asked to join the Lincoln board, my pleasant memories of the high school experience influenced my decision to be a part of JA in Lincoln. I think I was the last president to serve two years. The other board members were so active, creative and hard working, that I didn't feel like a leader, more like a coordinator. My experience in the classroom was also invigorating. My first class was at Park and I had one pregnant young lady that was cutting diaper coupons and a young man whose Grandma had just given him an apartment building! It was a diverse group. Later I "took on" Kindergarten and 1st Grade at McPhee. The JA volunteers are a welcome diversion there and the children very warm and eager.
